MONTE-CARLO FASHION WEEK 7th EDITION

RESORT, CRUISE & CAPSULE COLLECTIONS SS 2020

The Monte-Carlo Fashion Week (MCFW©), the well established official fashion event of the Principality of Monaco run from May 15-19, 2019, rolling out its 7th edition with the presentation of the resort, cruise and capsule collections SS 2020.

Organized by the Chambre Monégasque de la Mode (CMM) under the High Patronage of Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco, MCFW © confirms its reputation year after year, attracting buyers, insiders, influencers and media from all over the world, thanks to the participation of both well known and emerging brands, fashion icons and renowned international celebrities.


The pinnacle of the fashion week in the Principality was the highly anticipated MCFW© Fashion Awards on Friday, May 17 at the Fashion Village, Chapiteau de Fontvieille, with the presentation of the prestigious awards created by the celebrated Brazilian artist and Monaco resident Marcos Marin.

CHAMBRE MONÉGASQUE DE LA MODE CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY

The MCFW was created in 2013 by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of the Chambre Monégasque de la Mode, this year celebrating their 10th anniversary, bringing into existence a unique and multi-sector event, with a rich calendar of fashion shows, presentations, round tables and awards with the dual aim of promoting Made in Monaco creativity worldwide and projecting the Principality in key contexts of worldwide fashion.

MCFW © has managed to establish itself, as an incubator of talents and a platform of quality and excellence, able to promote new emerging designers from countries all over the world.

GREEN IS THE NEW GLAM

Fashion, luxury and talent in a sustainable leading point, and these are the highlights of the 7th edition of the MCFW that promoted an ethical and conscious approach to fashion. An international initiative that, thanks to the alternation of innovative collections and interactive conferences on issues related to sustainability has become an important point of reference for eco-fashion. The guest of honor of this edition was Alberta Ferretti, a great supporter of ethical fashion, who recently launched a collection of garments made with carefully selected materials. Furthermore, prestigious names from the fashion world, committed to sustainability, such as Gilberto Calzolari and Jiri Kalfar, and the project by Federica Nardoni Spinetta with its brand Beach & Cashmere Monaco for the protection of the oceans, shared the MCFW runway.

Fashion and art were reunited at the Fashion Village, where a beautiful piece was exhibited by the Giordani Gallery, created in collaboration with Swarovski, the spectacular "Lutjanus Fulgens" installation, focusing on the theme of safeguarding the marine environment.

Wednesday, May 17

Interactive conferences at the Yacht Club of Monaco introduced by its general secretary Bernard d’Alessandri and Dr Jean Philippe Muller, general manager of the International University of Monaco and the awarding of the illustrious Mark Challenge Award.

In the afternoon, a round table was held, introduced by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of the Chambre Monégasque de la Mo-de and of the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week, with presentations by:

• Jiri Kalfar - Sustainable Fashion

• Inès Bensalah (Inessa Creations) - The new designer's sustainable challenge

• Giulia Miscali (Rue des Fleurs) - Tradition and Innovation in Fashion

• Stephen Valkenborg (Metropole Shopping Monte-Carlo General Manager) - The retail point of view

MCFW© FASHION AWARDS CEREMONY 2019

The MCFW culminated with the presentation of awards to outstanding personalities in the different segments of the local and international fashion scene.

The awards, created by the Chambre Monégasque de la Mode and designed by the artist Marcos Marin, were presented during a spectacular gala evening held at the Fashion Village, Chapiteau de Fontvieille on Friday 17 May, in the presence of H.E. Cristiano Gallo, Ambassador of Italy in Monaco, H.E. Marine de Carné de Trecesson, Ambassador of France in Monaco, Georges Marsan, Mayor of Monaco, Gareth Wittstock, brother of H.S.H. Princess Charlene and General Secretary of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, of the model Lara Leito, who arrived directly from the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival.

Among the distinguished invited guests were members of the global media and influencers, local and international designers, and other known personalities from the Principality and abroad.

This highly anticipated event was the corollary of an intense week that gathered in the Principality prominent names in the fashion field, confirming itself as a reference point in the international fashion calendar.

ALBERTA FERRETTI GUEST OF HONOR OF MCFW 2019

The guest of honor of the MCFW© was Alberta Ferretti, unveiled her Cruise Collection 2020, with an exclusive and spectacular fashion show, with famous top models on the runway, at the state-of-the art Yacht Club of Monaco, in the presence of Beatrice Borromeo Casiraghi and her husband Pierre Casiraghi, and famous celebrities such as American actress and producer Eva Longoria who came specially from the red carpet in Cannes, and other stars, dignitaries and VIP’s.

The Italian designer, at the helm of the eponymous brand, received the Ethical & Sustainable Award for her contribution to sustainable fashion by promoting, with her ethical and environmentally friendly style, a new approach to the fashion segment in which the values ​​of femininity and elegance are accompanied by a new awareness of eco-compatible materials and accompanied by green details.

Saturday, May 18

THE FASHION MARKET PLACE

On Saturday, May 18 at the Fashion Village, a special event was held to offer true fashion lovers a unique experience thanks to the possibility of purchasing or ordering unique and exclusive selected items selected presented by the designers who created them. This new fashion market place concept within the MCFW, facilitated the interaction with participating international and local designers, plus receiving valuable information directly from those who created the outfits and accessories.

Sunday, May 19

CHARITY FASHION SHOW AT THE HOTEL DE PARIS IN MONTE-CARLO

A unique event was created this year, where selected outfits donated by some of the designers participating in the MCFW, were put up for auction, with proceeds to benefit the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. The MCFW has been supporting the Foundation for the third year in a row.

Created in December 2012 by H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, the primary goal of the Foundation has always been to save lives by ending drowning. Its mission is to raise public awareness of the dangers of water and teach children to swim by learning safety measures through their programs; the Foundation is equally involved in communicating the values ​​of sport and is based on the belief that sport is a tool that contributes to the well being and development of children.
